EXPHYS research selected as finalist for Practitioner Award!

We're thrilled to announce our third study accepted for the Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) Research to Practice 2024 Conference - Exercise physiologist-led pain science coaching via telehealth improved pain and function in life insurance claimants: a pragmatic cohort study. This research piece has been selected as a finalist for the Practitioner Award.

Dr. Vicky Phillips, General Manager and Senior Exercise Physiologist, will be proudly presenting this research. Special acknowledgement goes to the EXPHYS team, Deakin University and AIA Australia.

“An exercise physiologist-led pain science coaching intervention in 1,275 clients resulted in clinically meaningful improvements in pain intensity and functional capacity, as well as significant improvements in work mindset, status and hours. Clients reported high satisfaction rates.”

This research will be published in the Journal of Clinical Exercise Physiology (JCEP).

MORE FROM EXPHYS

As International Women’s Day 2026 approaches, we recognise that gender equality must include health equity. The 2026 theme, “Balance the Scales,” calls for fair, inclusive and accessible systems, including in healthcare, where many women continue to face inequities in chronic pain support and women's health more broadly. Pain is normalised and symptoms are often dismissed. At EXPHYS, we are committed to supporting women through evidence-based exercise physiology, education and whole-person rehabilitation. We help women manage persistent pain, rebuild strength and confidence, and return to work and life. Health equity means recognising their experiences and providing care that truly meets their needs. 💜

EXPHYS® had the privilege of delivering specialist training for NSWPoliceForce and their Workers Compensation partner, EMLGroup. Our sessions - Pain Science Explained, and Exercise Prescription in Mental Health Recovery - supported Recover at Work Specialists and Case Managers to apply their understanding of pain science and psychological wellbeing to assist NSW Police personnel. The level of engagement and knowledge in the room was impressive. This speaks to the ongoing commitment both organisations make in building knowledgeable, well-supported teams. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed so openly to the training. We’re proud to be part of strengthening capability across the NSW Police health recovery ecosystem.
